The Pink Event

The Bosom Buddies is a team of three women who are walking in their third Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. This Saturday, Feb. 6 at The Chicken Box there will be a fundraiser “The Pink Event” with music by the popular band Joshua Tree to help the buddies reach their goal. Anne Stearns and Carrie Fisher work in the Emergency Department of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Gwen Comatis is a breast cancer survivor.

UnValentine’s Day

Seaside Shakespeare Company announces its 3rd Annual “Un-Valentine Cabaret” slated for Saturday, February 13 at the Chicken Box. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for cocktails, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and balloon hats; live auction and performance will begin at 7 p.m.

NSPC Wins State Leadership Award

The Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention announced last week that the Nantucket Suicide Prevention Coalition will be recognized for Leadership in Suicide Prevention at the 2010 Annual State House Day, Monday February 8, 2010.

Each year the Coalition holds an awareness and educational event at the Massachusetts State House.

Presenting the award to the NSPC will be State Senator Robert O’Leary and State Representative Timothy Madden.
