Vice President steps out on Nantucket
Nantucket (Nov. 27, 2009) – Vice President Joe Biden, accompanied by his son, U.S. Army Captain Beau Biden, and secret service agents, walked among the people tonight at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Main Street. Biden stopped and shook hands with well wishers and posed for pictures. About 500 people attended the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Carol Sing Along. More...

CPC grants $2.4 million for FY11 projects

Of the 21 applications seeking funds totaling $4.1 million from the Community Preservation Committee for FY11 projects, 20 applicants' requests were partially or completely approved to share varying amounts equaling $2.4 million in allocations. Last year, the CPC granted $2.2 million to 16 of its 25 applicants. One FY11 application was not approved for this year. More...

In the winter of 1659, just 38 years after the first Thanksgiving at Plymouth, the first delegation of white people spent the winter on Nantucket.
