Food Pantry helping islanders in need
      During the past three months, the food pantry has given out more groceries to those in need than it has during the entire year. When considering the last three months include June, July and August, the height of the season, when most islanders are employed, this is a sobering thought.

      An Open Letter to the Nantucket School Committee: Your responsibilities are many. They include establishing the educational philosophy and policy for the district, evaluating the program, approving the budget and expenditures, establishing regulations for governing and operating the district, and hiring, evaluating and if necessary dismissing the superintendent.
