      At Town Meeting in April, the article to build the new police station passed with nary a whimper. At the special election mandated by Proposition 2½, "so called," it passed by 50 votes. The special election vote was by no means a landslide but in our democratic system, one vote can carry the day.

Is it a Bird or a Plane - or a Bug?
      This story goes back 40 years to when the USAF had me stationed at Westover Field in western Massachusetts. We were outside in the evening and I was excited to see a hummingbird working the petunias near the walkway into our apartment. It buzzed this way and that, sticking its long nose into the flowers.
