Boys Basketball Hits On All Cylinders
      Nantucket's varsity boys basketball team has hit its stride in the middle of the season this past week on the strength of a three-game winning streak. Nantucket avenged a previous loss to Norton by taking the 58-53 victory at Norton on Wednesday, followed by trouncing Lighthouse Conference opponent Cape Cod Academy 78-43 last Friday.

Girls Basketball Unstoppable
      With a win over Provincetown and an improved record at 10-1 the girls varsity team clinched a post-season berth in the Division 4 South Sectionals and are now playing for a high seed. Nantucket sent Cape Cod Academy packing 57-8 last Thursday, only allowing CCA to amass two points per quarter.

What Is Coming Up For Winter Sports
      There will no shortage of sporting events for Nantucket spectators this weekend. On Saturday, all of Nantucket's high school sports teams will be in action at home, except for the girls varsity gymnastics team which heads off to a tri-meet at Carver. Starting the six-game day at 11 a.m. will be the girls and boys JV basketball teams.

NHS ice hockey winning streak comes to an end
      Continuing on a roll last Monday, Nantucket's JV ice hockey team added another tick in the win column, by winning its third game in a row, when the team traveled to Sandwich. After being in school all day, the trip on the boat for the late afternoon game seemed to take the edge off the team.
