We're counting on you, Bill
EDITORIAL

Someone on Capitol Hill cannot count.

That is the only explanation for why the Great Bailout came to a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives on Monday without enough votes lined up to pass it.

We cannot believe that our congressman, Bill Delahunt, a good guy and protector of the people, would have knowingly cast his vote for Financial Armageddon.

Presumably, whoever was doing the counting thought that the vote of conscientious objectors like Delahunt was not needed to pass the bill. Well, they were wrong.

Let's be clear, it is an awful bill. And keeping the economy from failing by having the taxpayers bail out the Titans of Wall Street is no way to run a republic.

But with the need to act quickly and with no better options available, the bill needs to pass nevertheless.

So, Congress, get back to work, and get it done. We're counting on you, Bill.
