      Yes, it happened. The Summer of 2008 ended on Monday morning with the coming of the autumnal equinox at 11:44 a.m., when the sun appeared to cross the equator from north to south, marking the end of summer and the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere.

      I have a new area rug in my dining room and I am thrilled beyond words. Now, when I walk through the room, the spongy softness underfoot is luxurious. The new carpet smell is exhilarating. The colors are subtle and a room with a covered floor is so pleasant and cozy.
