LETTERS TO THE EDITOR To the Editor: Thank you for your story on the reception hosted by Boston MedFlight on Sunday, August 10 at the Westmoor Club. As attendees and twice a passenger, it was a thrill to meet the pilots, paramedics, nurses and officers of the organization and feel their commitment to providing the lifesaving service of getting an individual to a major Boston hospital in an emergency situation. To support this service - available to everyone on Nantucket at anytime - please send a donation to MedFlight in care of Mr. Sandy Weedon, director of development, Boston MedFlight at Robins Street, Hangar 1727, Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA. 01730. Boston MedFlight is one of our hospital's major emergency assets in saving the lives of critically ill patients who need the expertise and facilities of a Boston hospital immediately. How do you get there in a fraction of an hour from Nantucket? Dr. Margo Hartmann, our vigilant ER director, puts it this way: "Whenever a patient arrives in the ER there is a checklist of pulse, temperature, blood pressure, et cetera and, last but not least: Is MedFlight flying today?" Keep it flying to Nantucket, with your support. Thank you. Reva and Morton Schlesinger |
