Dates from hell

The dating game can be elating or pure misery, as many know. This is especially true if you find yourself on an outing with someone who is clearly incompatible with your personality, leaving you to check your watch and wish you could go home and write your grocery list. On Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Atheneum, author Alix Strauss will present a funny view of dates as they pertain to those arranged by well-meaning mothers. Strauss, author of "Have I Got A Guy For You," will discuss the true stories in her book that cover 24 victims of their mothers' meddling. Strauss also wrote "The Joy of Funerals: A Novel in Stories," which won the Ingram Award and is to be made into a movie.
