Beach Plum Village - A Gem
Maury People Juliet F. Hunter - Barbara Jenkins $1,175,000 - $1,595,000
Do you like living in a village atmosphere? Do you want to be close to town, yet out in the country, with quick access to both shopping and beaches? Are you seeking amenities such as a community center, swimming pool and tennis court? Above all, are you looking for a home which is spacious and attractive, yet manageable and affordable?

All of these attributes can be found in Beach Plum Village, the new community that is rapidly taking shape near Fairgrounds and Surfside roads. Ultimately with 40 residences designed by a leading architectural firm and constructed by one of the finest modular home builders using quality materials, Beach Plum Village already is beginning to feel very much a part of Nantucket.

One of the great things about getting in early while the community is still in development is that you have choices. You can choose your lot. (Lots range from 4,000 to 10,000 sq. ft. in size.) You can choose your house design. You can select something already built or watch the construction of your house unfold while you make your own choices concerning the kitchen counter, gas fireplace, wood flooring downstairs, carpeting upstairs, finish hardware and so forth. If you choose the option, the full basement can even be finished to your specifications before you move in.

The model home at 13 Wood Lily Way gives you an excellent idea of what awaits you if you buy a house in Beach Plum Village. You enter across a large, covered porch. The downstairs is the open-plan style, but laid out with enough flexibility that the dining area and living spaces are interchangeable. At one end there is a separate room with double doors that can be a separate library or den, but with the doors open, can serve as an extension to the living room.

The kitchen features a big breakfast bar, limestone countertops, plenty of cabinet space and stainless steel appliances. While large, it is designed so that preparing meals doesn't involve taking many steps.

The master suite is also downstairs, with a large full bath that incorporates a separate shower stall and lots of closet space. There is also a powder room off the front hall.

Upstairs, the large landing, a feature of all of the homes, can accommodate a desk or easy chair. Each of the two bedrooms has its own bath. The laundry room is on the second floor as well, and behind it is a room which has almost as many uses as the creative mind can accommodate: over-flow guest space, sewing room, children's hide-away, TV room. You decide! The home at 6 Thistle Way is a variation on the theme. Somewhat larger,

it features a sunroom at one end of the first floor, as well as master suites both upstairs and down, and an additional bedroom. In contrast to the limestone countertops in the first house, these are granite and the downstairs floors are hardwood instead of wide-board pine. It provides a good opportunity to compare and contrast.

Roomy, sunlit and comfortable are all adjectives which describe both houses. They are fully air conditioned, completely landscaped with a lawn irrigation system, sport the obligatory outdoor shower and provide off-street parking for two cars. Some of the homes have a one-car garage. All are on town water and sewer.

Included in Beach Plum Village are some even more affordable houses available to year-round residents for very low purchase prices. The purchase is subject to income restrictions and there is a cap on appreciation that can be realized when the house is sold. The houses included in the affordable program are integrated into the village and part of the continuum of the design.

Beautiful, wonderfully livable threeand

four- bedroom homes in Beach Plum Village, a Nantucket community in the making, are offered in the range of $1,145,000 to $1,595,000. I
