Terns at Great Point
|
|

Late Friday afternoon, Trustees of Reservations Property
Superintendent Steve Nicolle closed Great Point from the southern end
of the Galls northward to the point.
Nicolle closed the beach not because of piping plovers chicks
hatching, but because of a large tern colony with 100 nesting pairs.
He expects the closure to last around a month. The outside of
Coatue is still accessible from the southern end of the Galls.
