Whalers dominate

 | | Pitcher Eric Lowell, above, led the Nantucket Whalers baseball squad to a 11-4 win over Sturgis on Thursday. Lowell struck out 12 and had three hits at the plate. With the game still close in the fourth inning, the Whalers (4-3) executed two perfect squeezes to open up a lead that Lowell would not relinquish. Lowell was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. |

 | | On Saturday, the Nantucket Whalers girls softball team defeated Ursuline Academy of Dedham, 11-3. Olivia Hull pitched a completegame one-hitter, striking out 11. Both runs were unearned. Jessica Guevara and Shantel Hanniford each had three hits for Nantucket (8- 1). Kelly Reid was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Lindsay Fry went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
