The newly configured Board of Selectmen did not get off to a good start during their first order of business this morning.
Following the swearing in of new member Rick Atherton and returning member Brian Chadwick, the election of officers process derailed and was put on hold for two weeks.
Chadwick had nominated Patty Roggeveen to be chair, but the motion failed to garner a second before a discussion broke out about wanting to wait to elect the positions of chair and vice chair, as is traditionally done at the morning meeting following the elections.
Alan Reinhard led the push to hold off on elections and was backed by both Atherton and Michael Kopko, who was acting as chair.
Roggeveen eventually seconded Chadwick's motion to nominate her as chair, but was defeated 3-2.
The motion to hold off on the elections until April 30 was passed 3-2, with the same votes by each member.
