AT ITS APRIL 2, 2008 MEETING, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:
• Heard a proclamation read declaring April 2 as World Autism Awareness day. • Approved a request to name a street in Pocomo, Bluffmore Lane.
• Approved a request for the reappointment of Robert R. Reardon, Jr. as a Constable.
• Accepted County funds for the Central Dispatch Center.
• Accepted County funds and approved a memorandum of Agreement for the joint public safety facility.
• Heard a departmental overview of Visitor Services.
• Heard an update on the status of the Jared Coffin House liquor license from representatives of Nantucket Island Resorts. NIR said they plan to open the Harbor Wok in the former location of Jared's Restaurant on the first floor of the Jared Coffin House. Jim Storey, general manager for NIR, said there are potential issue with making the building compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, but that he hoped an appeal would allow the business to open by June. The Harbor Wok had been located within the old Harbor House complex, which is now undergoing a major renovation. The Tap Room, in the basement of the Jared Coffin House, will remain closed for at least this summer, Storey said.
