Greg Keltz has resigned after 10 years on the Finance Committee citing a frustration with the way town government is run.
Keltz, an agent with Windwalker Real Estate, said he made the decision following Town Meeting last week.
“I think the process is starting to deteriorate,” said Keltz, who submitted his resignation last Wednesday. “There were several votes, but I don’t think it is productive to single out one specific item.”
Keltz did say the votes on the collective barging agreement with Nantucket Memorial Airport employees and the playing fields were examples. Keltz said he felt people showed up to vote on only one article and then had little interest in anything else on the warrant.
“Maybe 250 people show up for a specific vote and then leave,” said Keltz. “The town should start exploring other forms of government, like a representative town meeting.”
Keltz's term was set to expire in 2009.
