"Beneath the Roses" by Gregory Crewdson, introduction by Russell Banks Published to coincide with exhibitions in New York, London and Los Angeles, "Beneath the Roses" is a look at America through the eyes of Gregory Crewdson. Crewdson teaches at Yale University, and his large scale photographs are famous for their ability to capture an emotion. The indoor photographs are reminiscent of a theater set, capturing the moment of intensity that is a climax to the play. His outdoor photos are a glimpse of the small town life on the wrong side of the tracks. The raw emotion seeps from the page into your psyche, and will stay with you long after you close the cover.

"And the Train Goes . . ." written and illustrated by William Bee Adelightful symphony of sounds made by the train and its diverse occupants, Willam Bee's picture book inspires preschoolers to join in and get moving! Accompanied by colored pen and ink drawings with a level of detail reminiscent of "Drummer Hoff" from the 1960's, the narrative describes the dialogue and sounds from various passengers and from the train itself, as it "chuff, chuff, chufferty chuff[s]" out of the station. A final review of all the sounds comes at the end, when the station is quiet, and the station parrot goes. . . . A great read aloud, and a wonderful new book for lovers of vehicles that clickerty click.
