TIME OUT
MIRANDA DALE
BY SAM TOOLE
The Nantucket girls' lacrosse team is looking to make it to the state tournament this year, and senior captain and goalie Miranda Dale plans on being a big part of it. Having played lacrosse since eighth grade, she is a natural in goal and can stop just about anything. Also known for many other accomplishments, including being named Nantucket's Junior Miss, a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Spanish Club, she is active in the community as well. In her free time you can find her practicing Tae Kwon Do, playing the piano or just walking her dog. The Nantucket Independent caught up with Miranda at dinner in this week's Time Out:

On Lacrosse

S: How do you think your season will go?

M: I have high hopes for this season. We have a fresh crop of players - some experienced and some just starting out. My goal is to make the tournament.

S: What position do you play?

M: I am the goalie. It just always looked like a thriller when I was younger. I just wanted to be the last person to be able to stop the play.

S: What's been the top highlight of your sports career?

M: Two years ago when we made it to the tournament in Cohasset and we played our hearts out. It was the first team in Nantucket girls' lacrosse history to make it to the state tournament. On School

S: What has been your favorite class this year?

M: AP English with Ms. Phaneuf because it is the class I look forward to every day, where I can open my mind and discuss literature for an hour.

S: Who has been your favorite teacher during your high school career?

M: It would have to be Ms. Phaneuf, because she treats us like adults and makes you love language.

S: How is the college process going so far?

M: I have been accepted to UVM and I am waiting on Middlebury, Brown, UVA and Pomona. I'm digging Pomona just because I am ready for the West Coast.

S: What event are you most looking forward to during your senior year?

M: I'm looking forward to our last week as seniors. It's stress free and we're still with all of our friends in the halls.

On Miranda

S: What's on your playlist right now?

M: I've got a mix. It starts with a little Wu-tang, then some Grateful Dead, then a little Spanish hip-hop with Ozomatli and then finish it up with some reggae vibes such as Steel Pulse.

S: What was the last good movie you saw?

M: The last good movie I saw was "Gone Baby Gone." It was the last one that really got me thinking.

S: What are your other interests?

M: I'm a black belt in Tae-Kwon Do, I love walking my dogs and I play

piano. I
