The busy Star Brazil Mini-mart at 1 North Beach St. is moving this week but will be closed until about April 7 while stock is relocated to 57 Old South Road.

Ursula Nazareth, the store's owner, moved to the island in 2001 and in 2002 launched the business - packed top to bottom with food products appealing to Nantucket's booming Brazilian, El Salvadoran and Jamaican residents, as well as toys, lingerie, hair extensions, candy and just about everything else one can imagine.
Nazareth had to move by March 31 because building owner George Nyren sold the front portion where her store was located and a side unit to Great Point Properties. The real estate firm, which merged with Sanford Real Estate, will carry the Great Point Properties name with a combined office at 1 North Beach St., and will open in early May.
Though a business location upheaval would bother some owners, Nazareth, who has a similar store in West Yarmouth, is happy about the change because she will have more space, something she has wanted for years, and be more accessible to her regular customers.
"It's a very good location," Nazareth said of being next to Old South Market. "The year-round customers live in that area. It is going to be better for them and we're going to have enough parking. We are very happy to have found the space."
Nazareth said she anticipates reopening on or about April 7. Once the new store is established, Nazareth will introduce a bill payment system, money order service, Massachusetts Lottery ticket system, fresh meats and prepared foods. There is more to come, but Nazareth wants to keep some new store features a surprise until her grand opening.
"We will have new things, but I'm going to wait to show the customers until the first week when we open," she said.
