 | | THE POWER OF WORDS ROB BENCHLEY/The Independent To the sound of a dropped pin, 8th graders Zach Almodobar, Damek Rubie and Maria Arce participate in a first annual Read-a-Thon fundraiser at Cyrus Peirce Middle School. During the three-hour pledge challenge last Friday, 282 students (as well as teachers and staff) read 29,337 pages. Proceeds will bolster classroom libraries and reading resources; a tally will be made by the end of the week, but already pledges have reached $3,000. |
