FARRELL PITCHES FOR LONGWOOD John Farrell, a senior pitcher at Longwood University, sports a 1-3 record for the Lancers so far this season. Farrell pitched a complete game on Sunday against Norfolk State University, striking out three. Farrell is a 2004 graduate of Nantucket High School.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
