Hockey team ends on high note

The Whalers hockey team wound up its season with a victory on Feb. 20, shutting out Dennis-Yarmouth on the road, 2-0.
Freshman Gary Caruso put the Whalers ahead to stay, scoring a goal in the second period, and James McIntosh added an empty net goal with seconds remaining in the game. Goaltender Joe Bopp returned to action with a strong performance in net.
For first-year coach Kris Marsh, the win was a satisfying conclusion to the season, and a well-deserved victory for the team. "I wish the season was longer," he said. "The kids definitely stepped up all season long. They came out and got that win, which was a big confidence booster for the team.
"As a coach, I know what to prepare for next year, and we're all excited for
next season." I
