The Whalers showed poise in both games as they came back valiantly in each. Against the Vineyard Friday night, Nantucket found itself in a 2-0 hole early, but hung tough in a 5-2 loss. Alex Perkins scored both Whalers goals.

Again on Sunday, the Whalers came back from a 3-0, first period deficit to narrow the lead to one, 3-2, after two periods. After Cape Tech scored three goals by the 7:20 mark of the first period, Nantucket, behind the goaltending of Ray DeCosta, bore down to deny the visitors through the second period. Nantucket scored twice in the second stanza, breaking through on a goal by Nick Lombardi, assisted by Devon Kohler and Adam Ceely.

Pressuring the Cape Tech defense, Hunter Slade later scored from in front of the net with an assist from Luke Daniels.

The third period featured strong defense from both teams, with DeCosta making several saves for the Whalers. With a faceoff in the Nantucket end at the 1:37 mark, Nantucket pulled the goalie. The Whalers swarmed the net but a shot in front just missed. Cape Tech then took a rebounded shot up ice and found the

empty net for the final, 4-2 score. I
