ANantucket man was arrested last Thursday on an outstanding warrant for a lengthy list of sexual crimes, including a rape of a relative that allegedly took place on island sometime prior to 2006, according to a Swansea, Mass. police officer.

Anthony Flye
Anthony Flye, 38, of 9 Brinda Lane, was arrested last Thursday by Massachusetts State Police and Nantucket Police who pulled him over as he left his house, according to Detective Lieutenant Jerry Adams.

Flye is being charged with rape of a child with force, rape, indecent assault and battery, indecent exposure, assault and battery on an elderly or disabled person with injury, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over and incest.

"The allegation that he was charged with is that he raped a party on Nantucket that was a relative of his," said Peter Robidoux, a senior patrolman in the sex crimes unit with the Swansea Police Department.

Adams said the Nantucket Police Department had no involvement in the investigation and were contacted by Massachusetts State Police Trooper John Moran, who asked for their assistance in the apprehension of Flye. Adams said Moran was contacted by the Swansea Police, who knew of Flye's location and asked he be arrested on the outstanding warrant charges.

After being taken into custody on Thursday, Flye was held overnight on Nantucket, then flown off island and arraigned in Fall River on Friday.

He is currently being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to return to Fall River District Court for a pretrial haring on Feb. 29.

Flye, who worked in the construction trades on Nantucket, has a lengthy criminal history dating back to his days as a juvenile, according to Robidoux.

Robidoux said past charges include assault, assault and battery, armed robbery and larceny, with charges filed in Barnstable County, in Maine and possibly Rhode Island. Flye's file in Barnstable County Superior Court is not on the court's computer system and was unavailable.

Thomas Carroll, an investigator in the child abuse division of the Bristol County District Attorney's office, said the most recent case began to unfold when an alleged victim came forward with information regarding Flye.

"As a result of a complaint filed with the Swansea Police, an investigation was conducted and sufficient evidence was uncovered to go forward with the charges," said Carroll.

Carroll said there were "multiple victims," but could not comment on any specifics because of the nature of the charges and the early stages of Flye's court proceedings.

Robidoux, who also could not comment extensively on the specifics of the case, did say Flye had used a number of aliases in the past, including different first names with his real last name as well as using the name Christopher Santos.

According to the Registry of Deeds, Flye and his wife, Dawn Flye, purchased their Brinda Lane home

in October of 2006 for $1,110, 000. I
