AT ITS MEETING ON FEB 6, THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:
• Voted 4-0, Brian Chadwick recused, to waive the $500 user fee and noise by law from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for the junior class so they may hold their prom at Jetties Beach.

• Voted 5-0 to approve a waiver to open a section of Westcreek Road so that the Bamboo Supper Club may connect to a water main for its sprinkler system.

• Accepted a $24,000 gift from the children of the late Margaret K. Terry and Henry Terry, for the establishment of a scholarship fund. Two $1,500 scholarships will be given out each year to one graduating senior and one alumnus who is pursuing a career in either the field of English or any career in the medical field. The scholarship committee at the High School will award the scholarships. The board also voted to send a letter thanking the family for the donation.

• Accepted a gift, pending approval by the County Government Review Board, of two Ford Crown Victoria police cars from the Sheriff's office worth $74,000. The board also accepted a $1 million donation from the sheriff's office to be used in the building of a central dispatch radio communication and emergency system, tentatively planned to be constructed in the 2 Fairgrounds Road Public Safety Complex. If the complex is voted down or not constructed or whatever reason, the money would still be used for the same purpose, just in a different manner, according to Nantucket Police Chief William Pittman.

AT ITS MEETING TONIGHT, FEB. 13,

THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN WILL:

• Hear a request for the approval of a transfer of funds from the Sheriff's deeds excise funds to the Public Safety Facility. Pending the approval of the County Government Study Review Board, the Sheriff will transfer $4 million to be used "for actual building cost only," according to a letter from Sheriff Richard Bretschneider to Town Administrator Libby Gibson.

• Review the status of design and planning for the Joint Public Safety Facility at 2 Fairgrounds Road.

• Review the status of the fiscal year 2009 general fund budget.

• Review the fiscal year 2009 sewer and solid waste enterprise fund budgets.

• Hear a request for approval to grant an easement to National Grid so they may connect to the Surfside Wastewater Treatment Facility project, as voted at the 2007 Annual Town Meeting.

• Make a recommendation regarding commercial vehicles at the landfill and citizen's drop off area. Currently, commercial vehicles can pull up to the citizen's area and unload waste for free. The new policy would force all commercial vehicles to pull up to the scales and be charged to dispose

of their waste based on the amount of garbage the have. I
