TIME OUT - AINSLEY ELLIS
Senior; Swimming and Lacrosse Captain
BY SAM TOOLE
The Whalers girls' swim team is off to a decent start. One of the main forces on the team and the most experienced swimmer is senior captain Ainsley Ellis. She has swum competitively since she was six years old and has excelled in the sport at every level. She plans to continue her swimming in college. She is also captain of the girls' lacrosse team and enjoys hanging out with her friends when not swimming. The Nantucket Independent caught up with Ainsley in this week's Time Out: ON SWIMMING

S: How is your season going so far?

A: We've only had three dual meets so far but in terms of swimming our team looks strong. We're holding championships here this year and then we're swimming against our biggest rival, Nauset. Hopefully by then we'll be prepared for them.

S: What events do you swim?

A: I swim mainly sprinting freestyle events. Mainly the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 back and sometimes the 50 freestyle.

S: What's been the highlight of your career?

A: When our girls' 200 freestyle placed first at sectionals last year.

ON SCHOOL

S: What has been your favorite class this year?

A: English with Ms. Phaneuf because she's a very talented teacher.

S: Who has been your favorite teacher during your high school career?

A: Mr. Bennett or Mr. Leone because they made my high school years enjoyable.

S: What schools are on your college list?

A: Well, there are a lot, but my number one choice is Northeastern. I'm undeclared but I'm leaning towards early childhood development.

S: What event are you most looking forward to during your senior year?

A: Graduation, because it'll be an unforgettable moment.

ON AINSLEY

S: What's on your playlist right now?

A: I really like "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles.

S: What was the last good movie you saw?

A: "Superbad," because it was really funny.

S: What are your other interests?

A: Lacrosse, hanging with friends and
