Ferreira could reach 1,000 points today
Whalers senior forward Jordan Ferreira needs just 19 points to reach the hallowed 1,000 point mark for his high school career. He could conceivably reach the milestone at home this afternoon when the Whalers host Cape Cod Academy. Game time is 3 p.m.

Entering Saturday's game against Sturgis, Ferreira needed 38 points to get to the thousand point mark. He got halfway there, scoring 19 points, including four first quarter 3-pointers.

Averaging 17.1 points a game this season, Ferreira will join select company in the annals of Whalers basketball. Only five other players have scored 1,000 or more points in Nantucket High School history.
