BOYS DEFEAT P-TOWN The Whalers improved to 5-4 with their 62-40 win at Provincetown Saturday. Jordan Ferreira scored 18 points, while Evan Hourihan had nine assists. The boys' next home game is Saturday against Sturgis.

PEE WEES SPORT 12-2 RECORD The unbeaten Pee Wees ice hockey team visited the Cape Sunday but were upset by the Lower Cape Coyotes in two close games, 2-1 and 3-2. Scoring in the first game for Nantucket was Marshall Slade, while John Holdgate and Christian Lombardi (on an assist from Jay Howard) each scored in the second contest.

The Pee Wees' next game is Feb. 9 when they visit the Yarmouth-Dennis Dolphins.

MITES ARE WORCESTER-BOUND The Nantucket traveling Mites will skate in the Junior Sharks Classic Tournament in Worcester Feb. 1, 2 and 3. Nantucket is one of 12 teams taking part in the tournament, with games scheduled for Holy Cross and the New England Sports Center. The Mites will skate in a minimum of five games over the weekend.

NSSA ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Nantucket Student Soccer Association will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the Large Group Instruction Room at the high school. Changes to the bylaws will be considered for a vote of the membership present. All NSSA parents and other interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 7:45 a.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for an 8 a.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course that is accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades.
