These girls just want to have fun
Women's hockey team marks sixth year
      They range in age from 16 to 60 and they laugh a lot, often at themselves. They are the 17 active members of The Miacomets, Nantucket's women's ice hockey team who practice diligently once a week and hope someday soon they will win a tournament.

30 seconds makes a difference in the season
      After finishing the regular season 14-2- 2, Nantucket's best record, and the highest seeding at Number 3 out of 20 teams, Nantucket won home field advantage for the first two rounds of the South Sectional Division 2 tournament. Friday, Nantucket faced Number19, Apponequet, in a tension filled match-up.

Golf ends on high note
      Six members of Nantucket's co-ed varsity golf team last Tuesday headed off to Bayberry Hills Golf Course in Yarmouth for the Division 3 South Cape and Islands Sectional Golf Tournament. Nantucket finished fifth in the standings, the highest placement for any Cape golf team.

SPORTS ROUND-UP
      The Nantucket varsity boys' soccer team ended their regular season at Norwood on Friday, losing 2 to 1. Nantucket had bested Norwood a week before 3-1 and then shut out two opponents in a row last week on the road, Provincetown 4-0 and Abington 4-0 before traveling up to Norwood, the scene of several season ending injuries for Nantucket last year.

Nantucket Youth Hockey hosts Scallop Cup this weekend
      Nantucket Youth Hockey will be hosting the first annual Scallop Cup Youth Hockey Tournament on Friday and Saturday, with championship games on Sunday, at the Nantucket Community Ice rink. Youth teams of 15 will be playing in B Level Mites (8 years old and under), Squirts (up to 10 years old) and Pee Wees (up to 12 years old), in a round-robin format.
