PHOTO BY SAM TOOLE Riley Wynn After a strong season last year, Nantucket Whalers Golf is looking to improve this season and the team has the golfers to do so, especially with Nantucket High School junior Riley Wynn.
Having played golf since middle school, Wynn is a dominant player on the course and knows how to handle the pressure of playing in the number two spot. While not playing golf, he can be found swimming in the pool or playing his guitar. The Nantucket Independent caught up with Wynn at his house in this week's Time Out:
Toole: How do you think the upcoming season will go?
Wynn: Good, we have a lot of new fresh talent coming up in the sophomore class and just more improved players. We didn't graduate any kids so it's going to be our full strong lineup from last year.
Toole: What spot do you play on the team?
Wynn: I'm playing at the number two spot currently, but this might change and probably will during the season according to the matches.
Toole: What is your highlight to date?
Wynn: I almost got a hole-in-one when I was 12 years old, but besides that nothing comes to mind.
Toole: Who is your favorite teacher?
Wynn: Mr. Wendelken because he really cares about his students.
Toole: What is your favorite class this year?
Wynn: Chemistry is really interesting so far with Mr. Ward.
Toole: What event are you looking forward to most this upcoming school year?
Wynn: I'm looking forward to the Halloween dance because they are always unpredictable and fun.
Toole: What is currently on your playlist?
Wynn: I'm listening to Lupe Fiasco, Coldplay, Wu-tan Clan, We are Scientists and Cold War Kids.
Toole: What was the last good movie you saw?
Wynn: I really enjoyed "Donny Darko and Pineapple Express." "Pineapple Express" is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time.
Toole: What are your other hobbies?
Wynn: Swimming, playing music and just spending time with friends. I
