Films at The Atheneum
      The Great Hall of the Nantucket Atheneum will become a movie theater on August 10 and 11 when films will be shown, including, on the 10th, "Where the Rivers Flow North," from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., about a large dam proposed for Kingdom County, Vt. in 1923 that led a logger and cedar oil harvester to fight for his land lease and protect his livelihood.

Police rip up 137 pot plants
      During a now traditional annual, summer helicopter search for illegal marijuana cultivation on the island, officials last week found and ripped out 137 plants, compared with approximately 90 discovered through the surveillance conducted last year.
