Hill salutes the American Flag in art show
      Island artist G. S. "Greg" Hill is drawn to the American flag. Whenever he is outside painting or sketching, if an American flag is flying, it captures his attention and interest. "You expect to see flags on Memorial Day and July 4th, yet, on Nantucket, you see them flying all summer long," said Hill. "On Memorial Day on Old North Wharf, there were 15 flags flying.

      What child would not love to hear their favorite fairy tales read to them by a beautiful princess? That fantasy comes true in "Storytime with a Princess" staged by the Theatre Workshop of Nantucket and presented for kids two to 11 years of age.

"Bear and Katie" stars dogs in trouble
      Loni Burchett has written her fifth children's book called "Bear and Katie in A Crazy Day at the Beach," subtitled "Trouble in Nantucket." The story features dogs who anger people enough to cause them to be picked up by an animal officer and put behind bars.

      There is nothing quite as magical and boundless as a child's imagination. When "Seussical the Musical" opens at Bennett Hall on July 8, a small boy named Jo-Jo finds a funny hat and tries to conjure up an image of what animal would wear such a thing.

"Stage by Stage" to benefit Theatre Workshop of Nantucket
      Summer resident Stephanie Speakman is a patron of the arts, and last year she attended every Theatre Workshop performance she could. Wanting to support the local drama company, Speakman approached TWN's Producing Director Jordana Fleischut with an idea for a fundraiser - a cabaret performance she offered to host at her own home.

Former island teacher publishes essays about Nantucket life
      Robert Barsanti washed ashore on Nantucket in 1987, coming from Ipswich after college graduation to join the faculty at Nantucket High School as an English teacher. Though he left the island after resigning from NHS in 2004 to attend to family obligations and now teaches high school English in Pittsfield, Mass.
