The Nantucket High School softball squad qualified for Division 3 South Sectionals by defeating Sacred Heart, 11-3, on Friday. Olivia Hull pitched a no-hitter in the 11-3 win. Hull pitched all seven innings. She struck out 12 and allowed three unearned runs. Jess Guevara was 2-for-3 for the Whalers with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Kelly Reid and Cassie Moran each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. On Saturday, the Whalers defeated Nauset at home, 8-5. KEEPING IT IN PERSPECTIVE
Idon't know what it is with kids these days. When I was a kid, my mother used to beat us over the head to write our thank-you notes for gifts we'd received.      Heather Munley (#3) works her way past a New Bedford defender in girls' lacrosse action on Saturday. The Whaler team was ahead 6-2, but with two minutes left in the first half, referees shut the game down for what they said were unsafe field conditions. Because of an intense schedule (mostly due to weather postponements) the game cannot be made up, and will be erased from the standings. The team went on to beat Cape Cod Academy on Monday in a 9- 8 squeaker, raising their overall standing to 10-3-0. They are scheduled to play away at Martha's Vineyard this afternoon.
