NSSA SOCCER May 3 & 4
      The nine Nantucket Student Soccer Association spring travel teams cannot catch a break so far this season. Each weekend of scheduled games has seen rain, low temperatures and generally miserable conditions. This past weekend was no different, when 11 games were on tap.

M IS FOR THE MANY THINGS SHE GAVE ME
      So it's Mother's Day again, at least on Sunday it is. And it's that day when we all get to show our mothers how much they mean to us. Of course, in the Spencer household, this was never so much of an issue, because we showed our mother how much she meant to us EVERY day. So, you know, we figured that whole Mother's Day thing was a little bit of overkill.

BIRDS OF NANTUCKET
THE BROAD-WINGED HAWK

      Afew weeks ago these birds were high in the air over Veracruz, Mexico, circling in a stream with thousands of their own kind, lifted by invisible (to humans) thermal columns of air. Swirling flocks like this are known as "kettles," because their roiling motion is like water in a pot at a full boil.
