Softball team looks forward to weekend "homestand"
      After being on the road the last few games, the Lady Whalers are ready to spend the weekend at home with upcoming games Friday against Provincetown and Saturday afternoon with Nauset. They are also hoping for some decent weather for a change, as rain washed out last weekend's contests with Chatham and South Shore Vo-Tech.

THE BELLOWING BULL OF THE MARSH
      Just a few Sundays ago, 45 enthusiastic birders, including a dozen from Massachusetts Audubon in Ipswich, clustered along a fence rail on the Polpis Road at Folger's Marsh in the near freezing northwest wind hoping for a glimpse of a bird. Actually we were hoping for three different ones but any would be good.

Spring soccer starts season with banner weekend
      For the third year in a row the Nantucket Student Soccer Association spring travel teams opened under rainy, raw and windy conditions. Seven of the nine teams, were in action, with all but one coming away successful.

      DOLPHINS CLOSE SEASON WITH AWARDS BANQUET Miles Geddes was named Swimmer of the Year and Ainsley Ellis and Wyatt Leske received Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Dolphins end of the season awards banquet held on March 31.
