TAKE THE LONG VIEW To the editor: It has always seemed odd that I'm unable to vote in Nantucket, the place where five generations of my family have had their roots, the place I love more than any other in the world, and where we pay taxes. If I could vote, I would strongly support the referendum allowing beach nourishment on town land along the 'Sconset shoreline. More ... I am writing this letter so that the local year-round registered voters can better understand why they have been approached at their residences and asked to give up some of their time to better understand the 'Sconset Beach Devastation Project. The 100 percent privately funded project proposed by the Siasconset Beach Preservation Fund to preserve 'Sconset beach and address 'Sconset's long-term erosion challenge offers substantial public benefits to Nantucketers.
