      Ronaldo J. Alvarenga, 31, of 5 Hull Lane, had a probation violation hearing on an Oct. 11, 2007 charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license continued to May 27. Ramiro Jamie Amezcua, 46, of Fresno, Calif., had a March 2 charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle dismissed on payment of $100 in court costs.

Old South Diner owner seeks special permit
      Empty since the U.S. Postal Service moved to new quarters at 140 and 144 Pleasant St. last year, the building at 112 Pleasant St. could soon be getting a new tenant when all the permits are secured. According to the Planning Board, Old South Diner owner Gary Roy wants to put a take-out restaurant in the building owned by Leroy Viera.

AT ITS MEETING ON MARCH 26, 2008, CONVENING AS THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN:
      • Approved the renewal of the 2008-09 seasonal liquor licenses. There was some debate generated during the approval process regarding two licenses held by Nantucket Island Resorts for the Harbor House and the Jared Coffin House. Only the Harbor House license was up for renewal, because the Jared Coffin House holds a year round license.

      MINA B. MANNER Mina B. Manner of Siasconset and formerly of Duxbury, Mass., died peacefully in her home Monday, March 24, 2008, after a prolonged illness. She was 83 years old. A year-round resident of Siaconset for more than 33 years, Ms. Manner was born in New Bedford, Mass., on November 28, 1924 to Julia Macy (Wagner) Urann and Carl B. Urann.
