Off to their best start in the coach Willis Ferreira era, the Lady Whalers boasted an 8-0 record through Saturday's games. The boys' and girls' junior varsity basketball teams played twice over the past week, with both teams taking on the Vineyard at home, the boys playing at Provincetown Saturday and the girls hosting Norfolk Agricultural Saturday afternoon. PHOTO BY TREVOR LOCKLEY BANTAMS MAKE GARDEN APPEARANCE The Bantams hit the ice at the TD Banknorth Garden last Thursday, taking on Martha's Vineyard before that night's game between the Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bantams and Vineyard played two 25-minute periods, with the Vineyard edging the Nantucketers, 6-5. Mike Howard led Nantucket's scoring with two goals and an assist, while Steve Reis, Hunter Slade and Gary Caruso each scored a goal. Besides getting to skate on the Garden ice, the Bantams also got to see themselves on the Jumbotron, meet Cam Neely and take in the Bruins game. More ... BOYS DEFEAT P-TOWN The Whalers improved to 5-4 with their 62-40 win at Provincetown Saturday. Jordan Ferreira scored 18 points, while Evan Hourihan had nine assists.
