Island Waves take silver at Synchronized Skating Classic
The Island Waves synchronized skating team's beginner line was awarded the silver medal at the thirteenth annual Synchronized Skating Classic at the John Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne.

The competition took place over the weekend of Dec. 7 and 8, and featured 60 groups of skaters representing 38 skating clubs from Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. This is the third consecutive year the Island Waves, representing the Nantucket Skating Club, has taken part and was their first competition of the season.

The girls and coaches Kristin DeFrancisci and Belinda Yancy are preparing for the next competition in January when the pre-juvenile line will travel to Richmond, Va. to compete in the Eastern Synchronized Team Skating Sectional Championships.

Nantucket will be able to see the Island Waves perform at the next Nantucket Skating Club Ice Show on March 29, 2008.
