Whalers win two in a row at home
So it took a game to shake off the cobwebs. After a season-opening loss at Mashpee, the Whalers have rebounded and taken two straight at home, besting Blue Hills, 73-58, Friday afternoon and turning back the South Shore Vo-Tech Vikings, 71-39, Saturday afternoon.

The theme against Blue Hills was balance, with Jordan Ferreira collecting 22 points, Evan Hourihan scoring 12 (to go with his 6 steals), Eric Lowell 13, Delroy Lawrence 10 and Josh Butler 10. Lawrence also had 15 rebounds in Friday's game, while Butler nabbed six boards.
The Whalers continued to spread the attack against South Shore, jumping out to an early 13-2 lead that was 16-5 at the half, with Lawrence picking up four points in the period and Ferreira six.
Nantucket increased the lead to 25 points in the second period as Ferreira ripped off three 3-pointers in succession and the Whalers left the court at halftime leading 41-16.
The balanced offense again came into play in the second half, with Chris Welch netting 10 second half points and Troy Sullivan nailing two 3s near the end of the third period. Welch (five points), Carl Stevens (four) and Lowell (five) accounted for all 14 Whaler points in the fourth period.
At 2-1, the Whalers have the next week off before taking
part in the Cape Classic next Thursday and Friday. I
