MANDY CAHILL
Senior Basketball Captain

After an amazing season last year, the girls' basketball team looks to be a contender again this year. With her years of experience at the center position, Senior Captain Mandy Cahill is a force to be reckoned with in the paint, and she will be an essential part of the team's winning formula. She is looking forward to moving on from Nantucket after graduation. The Nantucket Independent caught up with Mandy at the December Delight in this week's Time Out.

On Basketball

Sam: How do you think your season is going to go?

Mandy: I think it's going be a good season but it's going to be tough to meet last year's standard. We played really well in Friday's scrimmage, though, so I think we're going to be successfull.

S: What position do you play?

M: Center. I started playing center at the Boys and Girls Club and middle school so now I play it in high school.

S: What's been the top highlight of your career to date?

M: It's a tie between last year's Martha's Vineyard tournament, where we beat both of our rivals and we were the tournament champions, or our overall season last year because we had the best high school record to date and playing those last games was unforgettable.

On School

S: What has been your favorite class in this year?

M: Pre-calculus with Mr. Breault; it's a relaxed learning environment.

S: Who has been your favorite teacher during your high school career?

M: Mr. Bennett, because I don't think he goes a day without making a joke.

S: Have you started to make a college list yet?

M: I'm looking all over. I got into the University of Tampa a few days ago but I'm still waiting to hear from a wide range of schools. In terms of studies, I'm undecided.

S: What event are you most looking forward to during your senior year?

M: Graduation, because I'm ready to move on and experience life outside of Nantucket.

On Mandy

S: What's on your playlist right now?

M: I listen to everything. I guess it depends on my mood.

S: What was the last good movie you saw?

M: I'm waiting to see "Superbad" because I hear it's really funny.

I: What are your other interests?

M: Snowboarding, going to the beach, hanging with my friends and

scrapbooking. I
