Biancia Ginna Japp was born at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Nov. 21, 2007 weighing 7 pounds and 6 ounces. She is the daughter of Nadine McGhie of Nantucket. Her grandparents are Alice Williams of Indianapolis, Ind., Paul McGhie of Corona, Calif., and the late Tarrel Austin of Jamaica.

William Patrick Martin was born at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Nov. 20, 2007 weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. He is the son of Christina and David Martin and brother of Claire Martin of Nantucket. His grandparents are Ellen Sherman of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and William Martin of Lenoir, N. C. His great-grandmother is Dorothy Sherman of North Palm Beach, Fla.

Kyle William Steele was born at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Nov. 20, 2007 weighing 9 pounds and 3 ounces. He is the son of Laura and Brian Steele and brother of Aiden Steele of Nantucket. His grandparents are Andy and Jean Zagayko of Richmond, Va., and Bruce and Carole Steele of Cambridge, Md. His great-grandfather is William Hance of Nantucket.

JOYCE MCGRATH RECEIVES MARIAN MEDAL

Joyce McGrath, a parishioner of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Isle Church, received the Marian Medal from Bishop George W. Coleman at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in Fall River on Sunday, Nov. 18. McGrath received the award with 90 other laypersons of the Fall River Diocese. First presented in 1968, Marian Medals are given annually to members of diocesan parishes for their dedicated service to the church. Recipients are nominated for the award by their pastors.

Adam R. Goodwin, the son of Ross and Doreen Goodwin and a 2005 graduate of Nantucket High School, is participating in the Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program. Goodwin, a psychology major, is studying in Brisbane, Australia, at the University of Queensland. Some students at Bates enroll independently at a foreign university of their choice, while others choose foreign-study programs through accredited American colleges.
