LIFTING SPIRITS THROUGH SONG
The NCMC/Nantucket School of Music Chorus, Barbara Elder, conductor, will perform Music to Lift the Spirits, this Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Coffin School on Winter Street. It features selections from the choral repertoire that are inspiring and from a variety of traditions. Members of the NHS Honors Chorus will also be participating in this concert. Marcia Hempel will accompany on piano helped by student percussionists on appropriate selections.

Works to be performed are folk hymns such as "How Can I Keep From Singing?" and "Peace Like a River;" a Stephen Foster medley, including "No One to Love," arranged by NCMC Jazz Band conductor Erik Wendelken and "Beautiful Dreamer," arranged by Ms. Elder; and spirituals, including "There is a Balm in Gilead," "Little David, Play on Your Harp," and the Harry Bellafonte-popularized "Turn the World Around."

Suggested admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for all Nantucket school children.
