ADELLE BEAUMONT
Cheerleading
BY SAM TOOLE
Nantucket cheerleading has had another strong year, with the majority of the girls returning. The squad is very experienced with a large group of junior girls holding down the fort. Adelle Beaumont is one of these girls. When not cheering she loves to work with children and hopes one day to become a child psychologist. The Independent caught up with her before practice in this week's Time Out. On Cheerleading
Sam: How has the season gone so far?
Adelle: The football season is improving so we have a more positive atmosphere at practice. In general, though, we've had a good season so far. Sixteen of the 19 girls have been on the squad for three years so we know each other's limits well.
S: What is your role on the squad?
A: I'm a front spot and a base. In a stunt group I hold a person's foot, basically. We also have a lot of dances this year and our competition routine is finally pulling together.
S: What's been the top highlight for your career to date?
A: Winning the homecoming game two weeks ago with three seconds left. It was great because it was the last home game for the five senior cheerleaders and it made up for not being able to do our halftime routine because of the weather.
On School
I: What has been your favorite class this year?
A: Psychology with Mr. McGuinness, because that's what I want to do. I want to be a child psychologist or social worker.
I: Who has been your favorite teacher during your high school career?
A: Mrs. Dooley, because I learned a lot from her class and I really like her as a person.
I: What event are you most looking forward to during your junior year?
A: Our Junior Prom because it's our year to shine and will be a lot of fun.
On Adelle:
I: What's on your playlist right now?
A: I listen to all types of music. I really like Shinedown and LeAnn Rimes right now.
I: What was the last good movie you saw?
A: "Georgia Rule" because it was funny and I watched it with my friends.
I: What are your other interests? A: Sewing, knitting, spending time with my boyfriend and my friends.
