"Why Did I Get Married" (
Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, sexual reference, and language;
113 minutes) Put four couples together who are meeting to get their yearly marriage "check-up," add two hot singles, put them in snowy Colorado (and we know how crazy that snowed-in feeling can make you!) and you have a recipe for psychoanalysis free-for-all. Based on the play by Tyler Perry, "Why Did I Get Married" gives its characters a depth that will resonate with every person who is married, used to be married, has always been single but would like to be married, or is single and never plans on being married. And Janet Jackson stars - so what could be better? Wed. Nov. 7, Thurs. Nov. 8,
7:30 p.m.
"30 Days of Night"
(
Rated R for strong horror violence
and language; 113 minutes) Just in time for the weather to turn colder comes a horror movie that will have you stocking up on garlic. Starring Josh Harnett, "30 Days of Night" is set in Barrow, Alaska, where they experience 30 sunless days due to their position on the globe (and we thought we had it bad!). A month of sunless days is a vampire's dream vacation, and of course the hordes are gathering in Barrow for a blood-sucking convention. Fri. Nov. 9, Sat. Nov. 10,
7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sun. Nov. 11, 6:30 p.m.
and 8:30 p.m.
"Michael Clayton"
(Rated R for language including some
sexual dialogue; 119 min.) Starring George Clooney in the lead role, "Michael Clayton" is a business thriller reminiscent of "The Firm." Clayton is a "fixer" for a law firm, cleaning up the messes that legally might pose a problem. Clayton is a human mirror of the law firm, a person who looks perfect to the outside world but is falling apart inside. Enter a partner in the law firm who experiences a nervous breakdown (evidenced in a scene with the lawyer stripping naked and running through a parking lot in the snow - that in itself is worth the price of admission) and the outside personas of both the law firm and Clayton begin to crack, showing bits of the quagmire hiding inside. Clayton must decide where his loyalties are rooted, and if he can fix the most convoluted situation he has ever experience. Mon. Nov. 12, Tues. Nov. 13,
7:30 p.m.
