AMANDA LEVY Junio Golf Captain

Golf has had another great season this year and are the reigning champs of the Lighthouse Conference. Junior captain Amanda Levy has held the team down the number one spot with very solid play against an array of tough competitors.

Off the course you can find her at the beach or just hanging out with her friends listening to some good old classic rock.

The Independent caught up with Amanda after school in this week's Time Out:

On Golf:

Sam: How has the season gone so far?

Amanda: The season's going really well, we're 9-3. Everyone on the team is working really hard and playing really well. I've been playing number one and I've won the majority of my personal matches.

S: When did you start playing golf ?

A: I started playing in fifth grade right after I moved to Nantucket. I started through the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club which had a golf program that met once a week. It's ironic actually because I didn't want to play golf but my mom suggested it for me. And after two practices I knew I wanted to continue with the sport. I've been playing on the high school team since seventh grade.

S: What's been the top highlight for your career to date?

A: I guess this year when we were challenged by Cape Cod Academy for the Lighthouse League title because we were tied and were going to be cochamps. They showed up last minute at an already scheduled match against Mashpee. We won both matches and beat Cape Cod Academy for the league title. On School:

S: What's been your favorite class this year?

A: English with Ms. Edzwald because I'm enjoying reading American literature. Also AP History because I'm interested in American history and Mr. Panchy is a great teacher.

S: Who's been your favorite teacher during your high school career?

A: Mr. Bennett because I learned a lot in his class and he is really fun.

S: What event are you most looking forward to during your junior year.?

A: I'm really looking forward to our junior prom because finally our class gets to come together and have a good time. On Amanda:

S: What's on your playlist right now?

A: I listen to a lot of O.A.R., Aerosmith, Guns & Roses and John Mayer. I like classic rock and some R&B basically.

S: What was the last movie you saw?

A: I saw "Superbad." It was really funny, and I enjoyed it. I'd definitely recommend it.

S: What other interests do you have other than golf?

A: I like hanging out with my friends, playing tennis and going to the

beach in my spare time. I
