Panoramic Views in Pocomo
The two-story entrance foyer, graced by an inlaid design in the floor depicting the island and its three lighthouses and by a wrap-around railing on the upper level, leads through to the family room which beckons with the light from six windows and a pair of French doors leading to the deck and pool area on the opposite wall. The fireplace, with built-in cabinets around it at one end and a full wall of bookcases at the other end, frame the room and give it definition as a friendly and comfortable gathering place.
On the other side of the family room is the office or den, with its own full bath, another bedroom and bath, the spacious laundry room and the mudroom off the rear entrance. It is from the back hallway that stairs lead to the basement and also, as an alternative to the grand stairway in the front foyer, another set of stairs goes to the upper level. In addition a full elevator enhances access to both the upper floor and to the basement The second floor is the principal living space in the house, with spectacular views spreading from Medouie Creek and Polpis Harbor, to down harbor towards Shimmo and Monomoy, along Coatue, to Great Point and the Atlantic Ocean, and finally to the upper harbor and even around to the newly relocated Sankaty light. Climbing the front stairs, the visitor is struck by the originality of the ceiling design which takes full advantage of what, in most houses, is hidden behind a flat ceiling and called an attic.
Next to the kitchen, outlined by the foyer rail, is the dining area. The comparable space at the other end of the room would serve as a great conversation area or a getaway nook for reading. There is an outside deck on either side of the great room, with the one on the back of the house having an outdoor circular stairway to the deck below and the pool area. The one in the front has built-in seating for taking in the panorama.
The basement has a wine cellar big enough to hold a café table and chairs, which is to be decorated to look like a French café, front awning and all. The game room has a wet bar unusually well set-up to stock refreshments, utensils and glassware. There is a 16-seat, stepped, home theater wired for surround sound. The fitness center includes a large stateof the-art gym - which, unusual for basement gyms, is bathed in natural light from high windows - a sauna for six and a massage room, together with a full bath.
The price of the home includes a yet-to-bebuilt two bedroom cottage and two-car garage for which the needed approvals are in place. This very special five bedroom, six full and two half bath, new home in a very desirable location, with great views, is offered for $9,500,000. I |
