CRANBERRY CUP THIS WEEKEND
The fourth annual Cranberry Cup hockey tournament to benefit Autism Speaks and the Foundation Fighting Blindness takes place this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, at Nantucket Ice on Backus Lane.

Games begin Friday at 11:15 a.m. and continue through Saturday and Saturday evening, when the playoff rounds and finals will be held.

The Cranberry Cup features eight teams from all over the country composed of top-level players. Nantucket's entry, Team Pudley's Pub, is co-sponsored by Pudley's Pub and Kathy and Roger Penske, and is captained once more by goalie Lance Kelly. Pudley's Pub's first game is slated for Friday at 12:30 when it will face off against the Milville Saints.

An awards ceremony will be held Saturday evening at Cap'n Tobey's Chowder House.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course, accurately wheel measured, with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228- 0206.
