FORMER WHALER TAKES FIELD ATWHEATON High school all-star Caleb Mitchell has found a new home on the Wheaton College men's soccer team. Mitchell is a freshman at the liberal arts college located in Norton, Mass. Mitchell plays midfield and is one of fourteen freshmen on a Lyons squad that last year compiled a 12-5-4 record and reached the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

NSSA SPRING TRAVEL REGISTRATION Registration for the NSSA spring travel team will take place Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Cyrus Peirce School gym from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Runners meet Tuesdays rain or shine at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Beach and Easton streets for a 5:30 p.m. start. The 5K (3.1 miles) run is on paved roads over a mostly flat course (accurately wheel measured), with one hill and some moderate grades. Runners of all abilities, from beginners to veterans, are welcome. There are no entry fees. For information call (508) 228-0206.
