ONE LAST FRAPPE

This scene on Sunday may look like business as usual at Congdon's lunch counter and
soda fountain, but it was actually a day filled with nostalgia as the pharmacy prepared to close for good at 1 p.m. Owner John Bertolami sold the business to Allan Bell, owner of the next door Nantucket Pharmacy, and the building to the owners of Seaman Schepps
who plan to open their jewelry store there next spring. Bertolami, who has had the pharmacy for 30 years, will focus on his Boston Pharmacy Management Company. The closing marked the end of an era for Main Street's side-by-side drug stores that
delighted tourists and co-existed amicably since 1936.
