reel to reel "In the Shadow of the Moon" (Rated PG for mild language, brief violent images, incidental smoking; 96 min.) Adocumentary that revolves around the only men who have walked on another world, "In the Shadow of the Moon" brings together for the first time the surviving crew members of every Apollo mission to the moon. These men are allowed to tell their story in their own words, and their testimonies are interspersed with archival footage and re-mastered NASA film footage, much of which has never been seen before. This documentary is an engaging look at a time when America was flying high and writing history on a blank slate. Wed. Sept. 26, Thurs. Sept. 27, 7:30 p.m. "Arctic Tale" (Rated G; 96 min.) ANational Geographic feature film, "Arctic Tale" does for the animals of the Artic what "Winged Migration" did for the migratory flight of birds. Narrated by Queen Latifah, "Arctic Tale" follows Nanu, a polar bear cub, and Seela, a walrus pup, as they tackle the extreme conditions of the Arctic. Filled with amazing photography worthy of the National Geographic name, this documentary shows the pups being doted on by their mothers, exploring the world around them, and experiencing the beautiful Arctic, a region that is under attack as the ice floes upon which Nanu and Seela's survival depends are melting. Fri. Sept. 28, Sat. Sept. 29, 5:00 p.m. "3:10 to Yuma" (Rated R for violence and some language; 117 min.) Awestern from the word "go," "3:10 to Yuma" is a remake of the 1957 classic and stars Russell Crowe as a legendary outlaw named Ben Wade who robs a Southern Pacific payroll train. Christian Bale plays a poor rancher, Dan Evans, who finds the only survivor, a Pinkerton guard, and takes him to Bisbee, Arizona to find a doctor. Unfortunately for Ben Wade, this is also the town he has chosen to take some rest and relaxation. In true western style, the good guys get the bad guys, and the bad guys get the best of the good guys. Fri. Sept. 28, Sat. Sept. 29, 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sun. Sept. 30, 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. "Superbad" (Rated R for pervasive crude and sexual content, strong language, drinking, some drug use; 114 min.) A"Porky's" for the modern set, "Superbad" takes you on a rollicking ride with two misfits trying to become men in the eyes of their friends before they leave for college. Filled with typical hi-jinks and humor, this movie has more substance than a traditional high school romp, and takes the brave step of emphasizing the friendship between the guys and the lesson that the journey is more important than the destination.
